Larchwood Boards

We are ready for Christmas with new stock from Larchwood Boards. Made from the end grain of the Larch tree these boards look great but are also extremely durable so are perfect for the chef on your list. There are several cutting board sizes including the curved end board shown above and then for entertaining the cheese board, also shown.

Timothy Smith Pottery

We have just restocked the pottery shelves of Timothy Smith of Gleason Brook Pottery. Timothy's work is both functional and attractive and makes the perfect gift for a pottery lover on your Christmas list. We have a number of different sized bowls, mugs, goblets and platters in Timothy's three glazes, Celadon, Tomato/Brown and Blue with Celadon highlights.

Leslie Watts

Leslie Watts has recently turned her hand to doing beautiful little still life paintings in acrylic on birch board. The effect is stunning and several have sold as soon as we put them in the window. Caroline Jonas Glass

This reverse painted glass platter is by Toronto artist, Caroline Jonas. Caroline's interest in patterns and her extensive knowledge of a number of periods in art history is reflected in all her work. This platter has been influenced by the work of Gustave Klimt. Anne Dixon-Mahatoo

Anne Dixon-Mahatoo of Katamat Designs is a new Stratford based jeweller. Her elegant sterling silver bracelets are intricately woven chains, based on the ancient technique of creating chainmaille. Shown here in detail is her Byzantine pattern bracelet.Simone Richmond is a jeweller who lives in British Columbia but grew up just outside of Stratford. Her work in sterling ranges from sophisticated to whimsical. Shown here are her dangling cloud earrings.* Unfortunately we no longer have Anne or Simone's work.

Toni's use of high quality designer fabric combined with her ability to put pattern and colour together in a unique way make each pillow the perfect accessory to spice up a bed, couch or chair.

Leslie Watts

Leslie Watts is an artist from Stratford that we have been representing for a number of years. 'Beech Tree', the work seen here, is an acrylic on canvas painting of a beech tree Leslie saw in the garden of Gilbert White's House in Selbourne, Hampshire while travelling in the UK several years ago. Stephanie Lapierre

The Orchid and Lace design necklaces shown here are by Stephanie Lapierre, a Montreal jeweller. We have carried Stephanie's work for several years now and it continues to be very popular. Her more elaborate designs are fabulous with evening wear and work well with prom and bridal gowns. Her simpler pieces can be worn with sweaters, suits and even blue jeans and a tee shirt.

We have just received a number of new pieces by Toronto potter, Gabrielle Kaufman. Gabrielle has introduced a new black pattern to her line and we think that it will prove to be as popular as her well known pottery with it's red highlights. Fifty percent of all Gabrielle's pottery sales are donated to Canadian Food for Children.

Danielle O'Connor

Danielle O'Connor is a young award winning jewellery designer that Village Studios has been carrying for a number of years. Customers will be familiar with her very popular line of bracelets made from old silverware that Danielle began making and selling before she went to Georgian College to get her formal training. We still carry her silverware pieces but we also have a number of her necklaces, bracelets and earrings in sterling silver with crystals and semi- precious stones. Susan Benson

Stratford artist and theatre designer, Susan Benson has done some wonderful small mixed media drawings on gesso board this spring. Each piece is a character from a Shakespearean play and reflects Susan's talent as both portrait artist and costumer designer. Lori Skinner

Lori Skinner has been carving birds and fish for many years and her work can be seen in collector's homes, cottages and gardens in many parts of Canada and the United States. Last year Lori decided to try something a little different. Lori's new work takes it's cue from the folk art tradition of wood doll heads. Her whimsical women's heads document hairstyles through the ages, each one with a personality of its own. Each head measures approximately 7 1/2" tall and stands on a black base. Jennifer Graham

Jennifer Graham is a talented ceramic artist from Stratford. Jennifer's black and white gravity bowls and hand built glasses and vases are embossed using textile elements to create contemporary design pieces. Her work can be seen in decorating and design magazines. We are pleased to have many of her pieces in the store. Shown here are her 'Black and White Glasses' and her 'Tall Gravity Bowls'.

Mary Philpott

Mary Philpott, Verdant Tile Company, is just one of many talented potters from Stratford. Mary's work is inspired by the work of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement and her tiles can be found in homes throughout the United States and Canada. Scott Barnim

New Stock

We have just picked up a large order of Scott Barnim pottery. Scott is a well known potter from Dundas, Ontario. Scott's award winning pottery combines artistry with functionality making each piece a valued investment. We have a number of his stoneware pieces in stock and we also have a nice selection of his limited edition lusterware pieces.

Anat Basanta is a gifted jeweller from British Columbia. Anat uses sterling, gold, pearls and semi-precious stones to create unique necklaces, earrings and rings. Shown here are her Trillium earrings and necklace. We have a number of pieces in the store that are on her website, including her Neverending necklace.

Glenn Elliott is a local artist who works in a variety of mediums. This sculpture, titled 'Kneeling Man', is a smoke fired ceramic work and it is  18" high x 16" wide. Recently Glenn has been working on his ' Tattoo Series', wall sculptures based on tattoos from the thirties and forties.  A variety of materials are used to create these pieces including stainless steel cutlery. This incredible Maple Burl bowl was turned by Maynard Bauman from St. Jacobs, Ontario. We carry a number of Maynard's bowls in a variety of sizes and woods. This bowl is a low flat bowl roughly  measuring 12 x 17 1/2 inches.
Paul Gray Diamond from Coboconk, Ontario produces finely turned wooden vases using Blackwood for the necks and a variety of Canadian and imported woods for the bases. The vases pictured here stand 5 to 8 inches tall.

Village Studios sells hand made Canadian art and craft, including pottery, jewellery and glass.The perfume bottle in the picture is by Susan Belyea of Glass Roots, Kingston Ontario. It is sitting in front of a deep blue vase by Quebec artist, Pauline Pelletier. The handpainted glass plate is by Caroline Jonas, Toronto and the necklace is by Elaine Wigle of Collingwood, Ontario. The black rice bowl is by Lilach Lotan, British Columbia.
