Bill Schwarz

Roof Tops, 36 x 40, oil on canvas

This wonderful Bill Schwarz oil painting, which is the focal point of our Christmas window, is an interesting jumble of houses and roof tops. Like most of Bill's paintings it makes us smile whenever we look at it.

Bonnie Steinman

October, coloured pencil on stained paper.

Stratford artist, Bonnie Steinman's picture October, is a beautifully layered work of art. Bonnie began the work by staining her paper with fall leaves, a process that involved steaming the leaves and paper. After her paper was stained she drew the berries and twigs with attached leaves on top of the stained leaves.

Matthew Tarini & Leslie Watts Small Works

We are pleased to be having a show of small works by Leslie Watts & Matt Tarini from November 21 - December 4, 2015. We will have ten new oil paintings by Matt, work that he has done since his recent move to Edmonton and twenty eight drawings by Leslie using a new process she has developed.

"I've turned to a new technique recently.  These pieces are made with graphite and conservator's wax, an acid free paste wax normally used for cleaning and polishing. The process involves not only scraping back to the bare Claybord, but adding more layers of graphite and wax, then scraping again.  Although I've mainly used a mini box cutter for the scraping, some of these effects are achieved with a waxy rag, cotton swabs, sandpaper, and steel wool.  In order to add traces of colour, I've also used touches of egg tempera, pigment mixed with wax, and brown shoe polish."

The work will be available for sale at 9:30 on Saturday morning November 21 and Leslie will be in the gallery on the Saturday afternoon from 2:00 - 4:00 to meet with people and discuss her new work.
