Gabrielle Kaufman

We have some beautiful new pottery by Gabrielle Kaufman, from Etobicoke, Ontario. Gabrielle works in dark greens and blacks and blues and reds with abstracted leaf and design patterns often inspired by the ravine landscape behind her house. She is also influenced by other artists and designers. The dark green bowl shown here was inspired by a William Morris wallpaper pattern. We are pleased to now have lots of mugs and bowls in a variety of sizes in stock. Fifty percent of all Gabrielle's pottery proceeds are donated to Canadian Food for Children. What a perfect Christmas gift for a pottery lover on your list.

Tea Time

Now that the cold weather is here to stay and a hot cup of tea is the perfect way to warm up, think about adding a new tea pot and cream and sugar set to your Christmas wish list. The flowered teapot with cream and sugar is by Dundas potter Scott Barnim and the white and orange set is by Duncan Aird, also from Dundas, Ontario. To keep those pots of tea warm add a Tea Cozy by London, Ontario artist, Sherri Cowan of Rag Bag. Each cozy is crafted from recycled sweaters and blankets that have been felted and made into attractive covers for your tea pot.

Don Dolton

Don Dolton is a Stratford artist. His signed and numbered reproductions of Stratford, seen here, Historically Stratford and Serenely Stratford, are copies of original works done in pastel in which he has captured the beauty of the Avon river in two different locations. Both reproductions are available at the store.

Thomas Aitken Bowls

As the festive season approaches and baking is on everyone's mind it might be a good time to invest in some beautiful but functional pottery bowls by Thomas Aitken. They are lovely to look at, wonderful to use and with a limited amount of care will last a lifetime. Reminiscent of the bowls in grandma's cupboard they will be a valuable addition to your kitchen.

Kitras Glass

Kitras Glass Studios in Fergus, Ontario produce a number of different glass products but these vases are particularly lovely. They would work well as display or accent pieces in a room and would look fantastic with flowers.

JD Leather

John and Deb Sturrock, of JD Leather in Waterloo, have been making quality leather bags for over thirty years and Village Studios has been carrying them for that long. Each bag is hand sewn using high quality upholstery leather. Recently they have added a small and large version flat bag to their design collection. The zip pocket at the front of the purse is divided in half, with each half being large enough to hold a passport or other travel documents. As with all JD bags the inside has lots of zippered compartments. The large market bag, shown here in an acid yellow, is perfect for shopping or for travel and is also available in black and dark grey.

Amelia Lucier and Julien Mongeau

We have just received some new work from Amelia Lucier and Julien Mongeau of AJ Glass and Ceramics, Montreal. We again have their fantastic glass and ceramic mortar and pestles and the newest addition, a glass and ceramic citrus juicer. We also have new oil drizzlers and wonderful espresso cups and saucers in two different sizes. By making functional objects decorative this creative team are able to bring beauty to the workspace and table.

Elaine Wigle

We have some beautiful new work by Collingwood, Ontario jeweller, Elaine Wigle. Elaine designs all her own work using unique stones and pearls, accented with handmade components in sterling silver and gold. Each piece is a wearable work of art. The first piece is a large white and grey pearl pendant on an 18" knotted grey pearl necklace. The second piece is an ammonite fossil pendant on brown pearls. Each necklace can be worn as shown or the pendant can be removed so that the pearls can be worn seperately and the pendant can be combined with a sterling chain. The earrings are sterling silver and sterling silver with white pearls.
